Recon Mission Completed...

The VSDs Vigilant and Dominance have just returned from a mission to assess enemy forces in the outer sectors... The actual extent of enemy forces in the area is not completely known... this is just an estimate based on current data. All officers should be on watch for *any* sign of rebel or pirate incursions...

Official Briefing

The following briefing has been prepared and cleared for all officers regarding the Outer Sectors situation.

Since the disappearance and presumed death of Grand Admiral Daemon, the Imperial High Command has been mostly concerned internal matters. While Sirus Polanski ascended to Supreme Commander, there were still many loose ends to be tied up. Coupled with the state of the Fleet at the end of Daemon's tenure, the military was forced to take a purely defensive posture in the ongoing war with the New Republic. The Rebels have meanwhile begun a new push into Imperial space. Remaining on the defensive indefinitely would be suicidal - the Empire must fight back.

With the Empire's internal politics coming together, the time had been judged right to resume the offensive against the Rebels; with Rebel forces advancing the Empire's only hope is in turning the war around and seizing the offensive. The first step lay in expanding the Imperial resource base. Exploration revealed a pirate presence alongside the Rebels.

Vice Admiral Fel ordered the VSDs Vigilant and Dominance to perform reconnaissance of the area. The Dominance revealed the Rebel presence to be larger than first thought, and expanding... The Vigilant explored the extent of pirate space and found nothing remarkable until their examination of Geonosis. General Jansen's commando troops were dispatched to investigate something unsettling on the surface:

The wreckage of an Imperial shuttle and the uniform of an Imperial Grand Admiral was found.

The ISD Chimaera and Sector Group 1 has been dispatched to investigate this mystery. Normally, a massive Imperial force would crush the pirates in one fell swoop, but they must know something about the fate of Grand Admiral Daemon, so a different approach is necessary. They will also need to be on guard, since both the Rebel and Pirate forces are no doubt eager to take Imperial equipment out of the hands of its rightful owners...

Sector Group 1, however, is in desperate need of fighters, supplies, and equipment. Sector Group 2 is charged with safeguarding the resupply convoy and ensuring that there are no incursions of enemy forces on current Imperial space... which is no easy task, given the size of Rebel forces in the area.

This will not be an easy time for the Empire...
